Refund policy

Thank you for shopping with The Commonplace Company. This Refund & Returns Policy describes how we handle returns, exchanges, and refunds for purchases made through our online store operated by Commonplace Works LLC d/b/a The Commonplace Company (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. Eligibility and Timeframe for Returns (Physical Products)
We have a 30‑day return window for eligible physical products. This means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, the item must:
- Be in the same condition that you received it.
- Be unworn or unused, with all original tags and inserts.
- Be in its original packaging.
- Be accompanied by a receipt or proof of purchase.
We reserve the right to refuse a return if the item does not meet these conditions or shows signs of use, damage, or wear.
2. How to Start a Return
To start a return for an eligible physical product, contact us at hello@thecommonplaceco.com with your order number, item(s) you wish to return, and the reason for the return.
If your return is approved, we will provide you with:
- Instructions on how and where to send your package, and
- A return shipping label if applicable (or instructions for your return shipping, depending on your location and the nature of the return).
Items sent back to us without first requesting a return may not be accepted.

3. Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if:
- The item is defective or damaged, or
- You received the wrong item,
so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right. Depending on the situation, we may offer a replacement, exchange, or refund at our discretion.
4. Digital Products and Downloads
Certain products we offer are delivered in digital form, such as downloads, templates, or other electronic files (“Digital Products”).
Unless expressly stated otherwise at the time of purchase:
- All sales of Digital Products are final and non‑refundable once access is granted or the product is delivered (for example, once a download link is provided or an email course begins).
- We do not accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations for Digital Products after delivery, except where required by applicable law.

Digital Products are licensed to you for personal, non‑commercial use in accordance with our Terms of Service. This Policy does not grant you any additional rights to copy, distribute, or share Digital Products.
5. Non‑Returnable Items
In addition to Digital Products, the following items are generally not returnable:
- Gift cards.
- Items marked “final sale” or otherwise indicated as non‑returnable at the time of purchase.
- Any product that is not in its original condition, is damaged, or is missing parts not due to our error.
If you are unsure whether a specific item is eligible for return, please contact us before purchasing or before initiating a return.
6. Exchanges
If you would like to exchange an item, the fastest way to ensure you get what you want is:
- Request a return for the original item as described above.
- Once the return is approved and (if required) received and inspected, place a new order for the item you would like instead.
In some cases (such as defective or incorrect items), we may be able to process an exchange directly, subject to availability.
7. European Union 14‑Day Cooling‑Off Period
If your order is being shipped into the European Union, you may have the right under EU law to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without justification, subject to applicable legal exceptions.
To exercise this right:
- You must notify us within 14 days of receiving your item.
- Your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging.
- You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Please note that certain exceptions may apply to Digital Products and other items as allowed by EU law (for example, where you have expressly consented to immediate digital delivery and acknowledged that you lose your right of withdrawal).
8. Refunds
Once we receive and inspect your returned item (where a physical return is required), we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If approved:
- We will issue a refund to your original method of payment.
- Refunds are typically processed within 10 business days from our approval.
- Your bank or credit card company may take additional time to process and post the refund.
If more than 15 business days have passed since we approved your refund and you have not received it, please contact us at hello@thecommonplaceco.com.
Shipping charges (including original shipping fees) may not be refundable unless the return is due to our error (for example, incorrect or defective items), subject to applicable law.
